VX England are organising a tournament for all ages 12 and above to give players something to get back to. It's designed to be fun, informal and set up so anyone has a chance to win.
here is the email from Carl, the organiser:
<< Hi All
The pandemic was rubbish and properly hurt our already fragile sport, but you’re reading this because you are still here and are still passionate about the sport, so now that we can let’s play!
Between 1000-1500 on Saturday 15th August anyone who plays VX at junior level or older is invited to Easingwold Galtres Centre to take part in a very different competition which is set up to be wide open for any team to win! It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for 3 years, come and have a go whilst it anyone’s game
all we need to know is what team you want to put in. Teams can be any number from 1-6 so long as they only total 4 points
Points?
Anyone ranked in the top 10 as listed below will be worth 2 points (2)
Anyone not in that list who has participated in competitions before will be worth 1 point (1)
Anyone who hasn’t competed previously will also be worth 1 point but 2 of this type together gets you 1 free additional person of this type, (1+)
Top 10
- Scott Snowdon
- Tom Hildreth
- Carl Alsop
- Matty Horsefield
- Charlie Ford
- Paul Hildreth
- Jess Porter
- Chris Town
- Cain Branton
- Olly Stocks
*organisers may add to this list if unexpected players attend, this is just to keep it as fair as possible!
Points will be scored on the day by how many points your team gains.
Each player will also be given a random “quest” in each game where they can choose a difficulty level and if completed will gain additional points
Hopefully all this will offer a handicap of sorts and allow anyone the opportunity to bring it on the day and win, Teams do not need to be from clubs or towns you can team up with whoever you want.
Examples:
- Tom Hildreth (2) goes with Paul Hildreth (2) for a total of (4)
- Tom Hildreth (2) goes with Olly Stocks (1) and Leigh Branton (1) for a total of (4)
- Tom Hildreth goes with Sam Brown (1+) Tom Brown (1+) so they also get Matthew Bowen (1+)
Using example one
- Tom and Paul lose their first game 111-97 Tom completes his 20 point quest
- They win their second 140-135 Paul completes his 15 point quest
- They draws their third 80-80 Both complete their 10 point quest
Their total points for the day are: 372
This will then compare against others and the most points wins the day!
Simple, fun, mixed up competition, if you don’t have matching shirts we have bibs, you don’t need non marking soles, just yourself a fiver to enter a Vstix and maybe some lunch
Lets get as many people here as possible and make a day out of it,
Regards
